प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा

Prakritik Chikitsa (Naturopathy)

Naturopathy-based lifestyle care built on the five elements — nutrition awareness, natural modalities, physical activity, relaxation and personalised wellness planning.

Prakritik Chikitsa (प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा), or Naturopathy, is a drugless system of health care that focuses on natural living, healthy habits and the body’s own capacity to maintain balance. Our BNYS doctor is trained in Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences.

Introduction to Naturopathy

Indian naturopathy is built on the idea of the Pancha Mahabhuta — the five elements: earth, water, fire (sunlight), air and space. Traditional naturopathic care uses these elements through diet, water, mud, sunlight, fresh air, rest and fasting, alongside yoga and a regular daily routine. In practice, much of naturopathy is about practical lifestyle change.

Natural Lifestyle Practices

  • A regular daily routine (dinacharya)
  • Adequate, regular sleep
  • Time outdoors, fresh air and daylight
  • Mindful eating and hydration
  • Reduced screen time and sedentary hours
  • Stress-management habits

Nutrition & Healthy Eating Education

We help you understand balanced, seasonal and largely whole-food eating — portion awareness, fibre, fruits and vegetables, and reducing ultra-processed foods, excess sugar and salt. Advice is practical and fitted to your routine and medical needs. People with diabetes, kidney disease or other conditions receive advice that respects their medical treatment.

About fasting: therapeutic fasting is a traditional naturopathy practice, but it can be unsafe for people with diabetes (especially on insulin or tablets), during pregnancy, for those who are underweight, or with certain medical conditions. It should only be considered under medical supervision.

Yoga & Physical Activity

Regular movement is central to naturopathy. We combine yoga therapy with walking and simple activity goals appropriate to your fitness and health.

Relaxation & Stress Management

Breathing practices, guided relaxation and small changes to daily routine help manage stress, which affects sleep, appetite, blood pressure and overall well-being.

Natural Modalities

Traditional naturopathy uses water (hydrotherapy), heat and steam, mud packs, massage and sunlight. At our centre, a herbal steam bath is available. Please ask our team which other modalities are currently offered — we only recommend what is available and suitable for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is naturopathy the same as Ayurveda?

They are different systems. Ayurveda uses herbal medicines and procedures based on the doshas; naturopathy is drugless and focuses on lifestyle and natural elements. Both are recognised under India’s AYUSH system.

Will I need to follow a strict diet?

No. We focus on realistic, gradual changes you can maintain.

Can naturopathy “reverse” lifestyle diseases?

Lifestyle change can make a meaningful difference to many lifestyle-related conditions, and some people need less medicine over time — but only your treating doctor should decide on medicine changes, based on regular monitoring. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
